How to Make CBD Dog Treats

Your pet and you will love all the benefits of this CBD Oil Dog Treats recipe.

There are many reasons why people have been giving their pets CBD-infused treats.

CBD is a compound derived from hemp.

It’s an ingredient commonly found in food and supplements and is believed to provide many medicinal properties and benefits.

There have been many studies done about the effects of CBD in dogs and they have shown that CBD may help decrease anxiety and other serious conditions.

Other potential health benefits include helping your dog sleep more, relieving joint pain, and increasing their appetite.

CBD is also believed to help alleviate stomach pain, reducing digestive distress.

Benefits Of Making Your Own CBD Treats

CBD and hemp-infused treats are available on many websites, including popular online pet stores like PetCareRx.

However, there are many benefits of making your own CBD treats.

Home-made treats are more nutritious because you control the ingredients you put in them.

There are lots of ways to prepare these CBD dog treats.

The recipe is simple, but the results can be very beneficial for your pet.

There are no preservatives or additives, which makes it quite safe for you and your canine companion.

Making your own treats is the only way you’ll be 100% sure of the ingredients in the treats you’re giving your pet.

There are some things to keep in mind though when preparing these treats.

The key to using CBD dog treats is to keep them fresh and to make sure your dog consumes them thoroughly when administered to them.

Many owners make their own treats do so for the safety of their pets, especially if their dogs are allergic to anything.

Giving your pet treats made by someone else can harm your pet if they have any allergies.

They’re a great resource for everything CBD and feature some amazing CBD products.

CBD Dog Treats Ingredients

1 cup apple sauce

½ cup peanut butter

¼ cup of coconut oil

1 tsp. baking soda

Full Spectrum CBD Oil Extract (We use Veritas Farms CBD Oil for Dogs-Bacon Flavor)

CBD Dog Treats Recipe

Before you begin, make sure you’re using all-natural ingredients, and these ingredients don’t have any artificial flavors or chemicals added to them.

One extremely dangerous ingredient you should avoid is xylitol, as this sweetener can be fatal to your pet even in the smallest doses.

Before you begin, turn your oven on and let it preheat to 340 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix the apple sauce, peanut butter, old-fashioned oats, and coconut oil thoroughly in a bowl.

Once these ingredients are mixed, add the baking soda and flour while constantly stirring so these ingredients won’t clump up.

Mix all the ingredients except the CBD until you get a dough-like substance.

Keep in mind that you might need to make some adjustments and add additional flour or water if necessary.

1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter (I use “natural” Skippy)

1 ½ cups old-fashioned oats

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup coconut oil

3 cups flour (whole wheat is recommended)

1 teaspoon baking powder

At this point, you have two options.

You can either make small balls with your dough and make them into cookies or use a cookie cutter to cut your cookies into shapes.

If you do the latter, make sure your dough is at least half an inch thick.

Before putting your cookies in the oven, line your pan with wax or parchment paper.

This will ensure that your cookies don’t burn or stick from the bottom.

Once your pan is lined, put the cookies in the oven for 15 minutes.

Then the cooking time ends; take your pan out of your oven and let your treats cool.

You can add the last ingredient, CBD, when dog treats are cool.

You can simply put a drop or two (depending on your vet’s recommended dosage) on top of each cookie and let it absorb before giving the treat to your dog.

Serving Tips:

This recipe will make several dozen, so you should have enough to give one or two treats to your dog for almost a month, depending on the dosage.

Make sure you keep these treats in a moisture-free, airtight container so they won’t go bad or become stale. We recommend an airtight container stored in the refrigerator.

Limit your dog to one or two daily treats, depending on their dosage.

If unsure of their dosage, please talk to your dog’s veterinarian first.

More and more owners are beginning to use CBD as a regular part of their dog’s care. Some are doing so in an effort to quell their dog’s anxiety, others are using CBD to help address joint pain, and others are using it for other reasons entirely.

The problem is it can be tricky to administer CBD oil to your pooch. Not only is it tough to get some pups to swallow the oils, but many dogs just don’t like the taste of CBD oils.

Fortunately, there is a solution – simply incorporate CBD oils in some homemade pet treats! This will not only make it easier to administer CBD to your canine companion, but your four-footer will also enjoy nomming on the tasty goodies!

We’ll share some of our favorite CBD recipes below.

First Things First: What Do You Need to Make CBD Dog Treats?

Before picking a recipe and starting to cook, you’ll want to assemble all of the ingredients, tools, and supplies you’re going to need.

The Potential Health Benefits of CBD for Dogs: Why Give Your Dog CBD?

CBD refers to a substance called cannabidiol. This is just one of the many cannabinoids that interact with the endocannabinoid system, which is a series of receptors found in the nervous system of mammals.

Liquid CBD oil can be extracted from plants and safely administered to furry friends.

While the effects of CBD in dogs haven’t yet been researched extensively, there is a growing body of research that suggests that CBD oil may be beneficial to those suffering from the following conditions:

  • CBD for Dogs withCancer: CBD, amongst other cannabinoids, has been shown to help reduce the growth of cancer cells in mice, though we still don’t know if it works the same way in dogs.
  • CBD for DogAnxiety: Many pet parents report that CBD helps ease their dog’s anxiety, including separation anxiety. A human-based study found that anxiety was reduced for most patients after a month of use, but there’s still not much empirical evidence about how it affects dogs.
  • CBD for Hyper Dogs: There are plenty of anecdotal accounts that support CBD’s calming effect. CBD may be able to help alleviate some of your dog’s stress, but note that it’s important to focus on treating the source of your dog’s hyperactivity.
  • CBD for Dogs withSeizures: CBD has been shown to treat rare forms of epilepsy in humans. Some scientists have begun studying the effects on dogs, and while there aren’t any conclusive results, sources at Colorado State University report “promising results.”
  • CBD for Dogs withArthritis: A 2018 study found that CBD could provide some relief to dogs suffering from arthritis. More research is needed to solidify CBD as a potential treatment, but the results are promising.

Will CBD Get Your Dog High?

CBD will not get your dog high. This is a common misconception since CBD is derived from cannabis.

However, it is just one of the many cannabinoids extracted from the plant. The one that causes a psychoactive effect is tetrahydrocannabinol (better known by the abbreviation THC). THC causes a “high,” but CBD does not. Instead, CBD is primarily thought to provide anti-inflammatory and sedative-like effects. Some evidence even suggests that CBD can actually counteract THC.

In short, CBD will not get your hound high, but it may be able to provide your pooch with a variety of health benefits depending on your dog’s needs.
